WHO I AM
I was born on March 5, 1989 in Hawaii, Hawaii, the son of a couple from Oak Grove, Kentucky. My father, Arthur Gates was a member of the United States Army for 20 years. My birth name (Maurion Lenaurus Gates) was given to me by my mother after my biological father Montrose Lentrell Randolph. My family are die-hard Christians. As a kid I became interested in music when I saw Michael Jackson videos on MTV. This inspired my passion for singing. I can remember moon walking in the reflection of the stove door in the kitchen. I originally was draw to basketball by another MJ (Michael Jeffrey Jordan) and had aspirations to play in the NBA. As a military brat, I've live in Hawaii, Kentucky, and Louisiana during my younger years. I attended Pembroke Elementary School in the Christian County School District. There I was placed in the Gifted & Talented program for art and was Top 3 for Accelerated Readers. During my stay in Fort Polk, Louisiana, I preached at Trinity Christian Center (I credit this for being comfortable with public speaking). As a teenager, I went on to attend Hopkinsville High School in Hopkinsville, where I begin to fall in love with English literature and Hip Hop. I served on the Student Advisory Council as a senior and read a letter to, my favorite English teacher, Mrs. Shekeenab at my graduation. My first introduction to rap came after watching Tupac's Resurrection on MTV. I began participating in Freestyle Fridays at Hopkinsville High, under the alias Phenomenon, and writing raps in song format over popular songs in notebooks.
I joined the United States Air Force on May 3, 2011 with the AFSC of Cyber Systems Operations. After graduation from Basic Military Training, in San Antonio, TX, I attended Tech School at Keesler, AFB in Mississippi. I then PCS'd to Offutt, AFB in Nebraska. As a member of 55 Strategic Communications Squadron, I did Top Secret and SCI work (as a member of the Missile Defense Team) for a 4 1/2 year tour. From there I did a two year tour at Osan AB, Republic of Korea. There I work as a Network Administrator & member of the osan air base Communications Focal Point. During my off time I perform at open mic nights in seoul, korea.
In a world that is full of trends, I wanted to develop a brand that embodies those that stand out among the crowd. as a kid i was always different and never fit into a box and know that there are others like me. stand out is for those that dare to be different and outstanding music has, and; will continue to create the soundtrack to our existence. often people ridicule what they don't understand. maybe you're a member of the LGBT community, or into art, poetry, and anime, or a person more focused on studies than popularity, or the rebel to stereotypes; well you are a stand out. STAND OUTS are innovators, inventors, creators, and artistic geniuses bring about a renaissance globally. As continue to evolve this is the future as i see it and this is who I am. I challenge people each to be themselves and to dare to be different.
